Afluente

5.1 Channel Sound Installation
Porto Alegre, Brazil

In Afluente, recordings of the Guaíba River, the Dilúvio stream, water currents through the city of Porto Alegre, and testimonials through voice messages, responding to the question: ‘What does the sound of Guaíba sound like to you?’ come together to form the main sound source of the exhibition, DESÁGUA.

DESÁGUA is the result of a month of investigation and creation, developed as part of the 2nd Formigueiro Residency, promoted by the 9th Kino Beat Festival in Porto Alegre, Brazil. The resident artists and researchers, guided by the waters of the Guaíba River—its histories, geography, disputes, inhabitants, and companions—have proposed works that flow into one another.

DESÁGUA is presented in Galeria Augusto Meyer at Casa de Cultura Mario Quitana in Porto Alegre and is open to the public until March 2025.
